Mastermind Who Planned Iceland’s Biggest Bitcoin Heist Jailed for 4.5 Years


Final 12 months, Sindri Stefansson was arrested for his half in what has been described as the most important heist Iceland has seen – over $2 million price of Bitcoin mining gear stolen in an operation that left police baffled. He has now been jailed for 4 and a half years alongside together with his staff of thieves.

‘Large Bitcoin Heist’

Sindri Por Stefansson hit headlines final 12 months after managing to flee from his jail cell following his arrest for stealing tens of millions of of mining gear. Native media have since reported that he was sentenced to four-and-a-half years’ imprisonment final week. His six different companions in crime have been jailed for a complete of 9 years and 7 months. Advania, the mining firm that the gear was stolen from, acquired over $200,000 in compensation.
